June 29, 2008 - Great Apes will be Granted Legal Rights in Spain

Events in Spain on the 25th of June took a historic turn. The Spanish parliament announced its support for the aims of the Great Ape Project, i.e., legal rights for apes. Pedro Pozas, director of the Spanish branch of GAP, says that this day is a significant "breakthrough in the protection of our evolutionary companions". The Great Ape Project has been actively carried out for 14 years.
